Support for Georgia’s ruling Georgian Dream party has grown following what officials called “historic” parliamentary election results last year, according to Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili.
Citing data from a recent GORBI survey, Papuashvili said on social media that “56.2% of voters now back Georgian Dream, while 63% express confidence in the electoral process.”
The Speaker further portrayed the poll results as a public endorsement of the government’s current course and values.
“This is the Georgian people's response to those who prefer serving the country to being a slave to a foreigner,” Papuashvili wrote, framing the divide as one between national sovereignty and foreign influence.
“The Georgian people want peace, not war, development, not destruction... acting in national interests, not being someone else's puppet in the hysteria of a crazy world,” he added.
