Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Wednesday said the cases of United National Movement’s Political Council Chair Levan Khabeishvili and a member of the party Zviad Kuprava served as further confirmation of the fairness of the conclusions reached by a parliamentary investigative commission.

Writing on social media, Papuashvili argued that the opposition UNM remained fundamentally opposed to democratic governance.

“The cases of Khabeishvili and Kuprava are yet another confirmation of the justice and fairness of the parliamentary investigative commission’s conclusions. The United National Movement — as an organisation and as an ideology — is an enemy of democratic order. It was so while in power, and it remains so in opposition,” Papuashvili stated.
