Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili has responded to remarks made by Pia Kauma, President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (OSCE PA), during an interview with Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty.

In a social media post, Papuashvili emphasized the importance of preserving Georgia’s sovereignty, stating:
“It is crucial that no one from outside declares whether a government is legitimate or not. Such interference would harm the country’s sovereignty if others attempted to define our legitimacy for us.”

Papuashvili further noted that Kauma made these remarks while speaking to a Georgian citizen working for what he referred to as “a foreign government’s propaganda media outlet.”
