Georgia offers a strong and attractive investment environment, making it appealing for international investors, Speaker of Parliament Shalva Papuashvili said on Monday.

His remarks came in response to questions about a planned 70-storey Trump Tower Tbilisi project in the capital, reportedly linked to a real estate company associated with the family of US President Donald Trump.

Papuashvili said the entry of a globally recognised brand into Georgia under its own name reflected confidence in the country’s economic conditions and investment climate.

He argued that Georgia has recently been ranked highly in various international indicators, including economic growth rates, governance quality and low levels of corruption, describing the country as a “stable environment” in a region facing geopolitical tensions.

He further noted such projects demonstrated trust not only in the market but also in the country’s institutional framework and long-term potential. He added that the involvement of a well-known international brand could encourage further investment and help raise standards in the real estate sector.

The parliamentary speaker also criticised opposition figures who have questioned the project, suggesting they were attempting to frame foreign investment negatively despite broader economic indicators pointing to growth and stability.
