The Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, has announced at a plenary session that the conclusion of the Parliament’s Temporary Investigative Commission examining the activities of the 2003-2012 United National Movement government had been translated into English.

Papuashvili noted the document exceeds 300 pages and details the findings of the commission regarding alleged crimes committed during the period when the United National Movement was in power.

He said the report describes the creation and operation of what the commission characterized as a system of torture, killings carried out by state representatives, racketeering of businesses, seizure of media outlets, and crimes against Georgia’s territorial integrity.

Papuashvili said that the English-language version had been prepared and published, and that it provided detailed descriptions of what he described as political and criminal offenses.

He added that the document will be sent to all embassies and to Georgia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs to ensure it reaches relevant international actors, including those who “continue to support the former ruling party abroad.”

Papuashvili also criticized the European People's Party for not expelling the United National Movement from its ranks and said some foreign actors continued to support former President Mikheil Saakashvili.

Papuashvili said the report would be shared with international stakeholders and research organizations so that they can review the commission’s findings regarding the pre-2012 period in Georgia.
