The Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, on Tuesday accused the Swedish government of supporting what he described as the “radical agenda” of Transparency International Georgia.

In a social media post, Papuashvili alleged that Erik Ottosson, chairman of the European Affairs Committee of the Swedish Parliament, has openly advocated for “Maidan and radicalisation.”

The comments were accompanied by an excerpt from an interview given by Ottosson, dated November 11, 2024.

“Behind every radical NGO is a radical donor. Behind the radical agenda of Transparency International is the funding of the Swedish government,” Papuashvili claimed.

He further claimed that Ottosson’s statements had gone unchallenged in Sweden, raising concerns over what he described as the West’s tacit endorsement of radical movements.
