Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili, has departed for Istanbul, Turkey, to participate in the 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).

Papuashvili will take part in the general debates of the assembly, where he is also scheduled to deliver a speech. He is additionally expected to hold a series of high-level bilateral meetings during his visit, the parliament press office said on Wednesday. 

The delegation led by the Speaker includes the Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee, Nikoloz Samkharadze, and the Chair of the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee, Maia Bitadze.

The 152nd IPU Assembly is being held in Istanbul, bringing together parliamentary leaders from around the world to discuss global political, economic and security issues.
