The Embassy of Georgia in Israel has confirmed that a shell landed in the vicinity of its building Thursday, though the embassy itself was not damaged in the incident.
In a statement, the embassy said it is operating under enhanced security measures and continues its diplomatic functions in accordance with protocols issued by Israeli authorities.
"The diplomatic mission follows the security instructions set by the relevant services and continues to operate," the embassy noted, urging Georgian citizens in Israel to strictly follow the guidance of local authorities.
The embassy is currently operating in what it described as a "special mode" due to the deteriorating security situation in the country. Citizens have been advised to monitor the embassy’s official communication channels for updates and, if necessary, to contact the mission directly at +972 526 919092 or +972 3 609 3206.
The incident comes amid escalating hostilities between Israel and Iran. On 13 June, Israel launched a military operation targeting Iran’s nuclear facilities, aiming to disrupt Tehran’s uranium enrichment programme and weapons development.
Iran has responded with missile and drone attacks, resulting in civilian casualties on both sides.
