At least 193 people have been killed and more than 200 remain missing after severe flooding and landslides struck Sri Lanka.

According to the Disaster Management Centre, more than 20,000 homes have been destroyed, while over 108,000 people have been forced to seek temporary shelter.

Many affected communities are still without electricity and access to clean water.

The Sri Lankan Government has appealed to the international community for assistance and called on Sri Lankans living abroad to donate funds to support the devastated communities.
