Police in eastern Georgia have arrested a previously convicted man accused of domestic violence against his wife and disabled underage stepchild, as well as threatening his wife with a knife, the Interior Ministry said on Thursday.
The officers from the Shida Kartli Police Department and the Khashuri District Division detained the suspect following operational measures and investigative actions.
Investigators said the man physically and verbally abused his wife and his underage stepchild, who has a disability, inside their home.
Police alleged the suspect also threatened his wife with death using a bladed weapon and attempted to coerce her before fleeing the scene.
Law enforcement officers later located and arrested the man as a defendant in the case.
If convicted, the suspect could face up to three years in prison.
