Georgia’s Interior Ministry has opened administrative proceedings after a video circulated on social media showing two foreign nationals firing a signal pistol.

According to the ministry’s press office, the footage, published on 28 November, depicts two individuals making several shots with an acoustic (signal) pistol. Officials said they have begun procedures to identify the people involved and take appropriate legal action.

Police later discovered spent signal cartridges and a cardboard ammunition box around 15 kilometres from the Gudauri police administrative building, roughly 300 metres off a nearby road.

Asked by Imedi TV whether the government planned to tighten regulations in response, the Interior Ministry said that amendments had already been drafted. The proposed changes, initiated by the ministry, aim to further restrict the circulation of acoustic weapons in order to prevent similar incidents.
