Georgian Deputy Interior Minister Aleksandre Darakhvelidze on Wednesday announced the arrest of 12 additional individuals in connection with incidents that occurred in the capital city Tbilisi on October 4.

“Following a series of operational-search and investigative measures, law enforcement officers have detained 12 more individuals [...] Evidence gathered so far indicates that these individuals, along with the organisers of the rally, attempted to breach the fences of the Presidential Palace on Atoneli Street and gain unauthorised entry into the building,” Darakhvelidze said.

He added a total of 35 people have now been detained in connection with the October 4 events, including rally organisers and participants involved in “illegal and violent” activities.

MIA officials continue investigative actions to identify and hold accountable all other individuals involved in the crimes, Darakhvelidze said.
