The Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs announced on Sunday that it would take all necessary measures to ensure public safety and order in the coming days, stating that any new gatherings could be viewed as a continuation of the previous day’s unrest.

“As the public is aware, yesterday’s rally was organised with the declared aim of overthrowing the Government. The gathering quickly turned unlawful, after which the Ministry took proportional measures, in full compliance with the highest legal standards, to ensure the enforcement of the law,” the statement reads.

The Ministry said it would continue to identify and hold accountable those who violated the law during the demonstrations.

“In light of yesterday’s events, we have grounds to consider that any gathering held today or in the coming days may represent a continuation of yesterday’s attempt. The Ministry will take appropriate measures to prevent any threat to public order and security,” the statement continues.

The Ministry urged citizens to take this into account and refrain from actions that could lead to legal consequences.
