Police in Georgia have arrested a man following an armed incident at the Holiday Inn hotel in central Tbilisi.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs said officers responded after an emergency call reported what appeared to be gunfire from one of the hotel rooms.

When police arrived, they found a man barricaded inside a room, threatening hotel staff with death. Special police units, including patrol, criminal police and special assignments officers, were deployed to the scene.

The suspect was detained on the spot without reported casualties.

An investigation has been launched under Articles 236 and 151 of Georgia’s Criminal Code, covering the illegal possession and carrying of firearms and issuing threats.
