Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said on Sunday that the country had endured its most massive Russian air attack in weeks, following a sleepless night of drone and missile strikes. He reported that Russia had launched hundreds of drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles at Ukrainian cities and communities, resulting in casualties, including the deaths of at least three children.
In a post on X, Sybiha stated that while the world calls for an end to the killing, President Vladimir Putin continues to escalate the violence with more strikes and the murder of civilians. He stressed that the scale of the assault highlighted the urgent need for a full, unconditional, and lasting ceasefire and urged the international community to pressure Russia into halting the attacks.
According to Ukraine’s emergency services and regional officials, at least 12 people were killed and dozens injured during the overnight bombardment. Three children died in Zhytomyr, west of Kyiv, and a man in his 70s was killed in the southern city of Mykolaiv. The attacks came just a day after another wave of strikes that left 13 people dead across the country, including in the capital.
