Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili expressed his doubt on Monday that fires in several locations across the country may not be a coincidence, stating that the investigation was looking into the incidents and “allowed all possibilities” behind the fires, which have been raging since mid-August.

In his comments, the Prime Minister thanked all state agencies and noted that they did an “excellent” job in combating the blaze, which still needs to be contained and extinguished in the country’s central-western Borjomi municipality.

More than 1,300 professionals from several state bodies are currently combating fires in Borjomi, which erupted on August 19, with the use of seven helicopters, three of them had sent by Turkey.

A forest fire in Shavnabada forest, near the Georgian capital of Tbilisi, erupted on Sunday, was localised earlier today, the Emergency Management Service of Georgia said on Monday.
