Six individuals have been found guilty by Tbilisi City Court earlier today for violence against journalists and cameramen during Tbilisi Pride on July 5, 2021, when right-wing activists attacked them.

Cameraman Lekso Laskkarava died several days after the incident, with journalists and relatives claiming it was because of injuries received on the day. However, the Interior Ministry named drug intoxication behind his death.

Convicts Akaki Nakashidze, Tornike Davlasheridze, Davit Kutaladze, Otar Gelashvili, Tsotne Chikhladze and Gia Giguashvili have been sentenced to five years in prison.

None of them admit to the crime.

Twenty-seven  people have been arrested in the case in total.

56 individuals received injuries on the day, including 47 journalists.
