Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has claimed that the Georgian Legion, a Ukrainian-linked military unit, is involved in organizing anti-government protests in Slovakia. Speaking at a press conference, Fico said that intelligence suggests the group’s active participation in recent demonstrations against his government, according to reports from Russian media.

“According to the information we have, I can confirm that the Georgian National Legion is behind the organization of protests in Slovakia, believe it or not. This is a military organization that is part of the Ukrainian army,” Fico said.

In response to these allegations, Slovak Interior Minister Matus Sutai-Estok announced that the commander of the Georgian Legion, Mamuka Mamulashvili, will be banned from entering Slovakia.

The Georgian National Legion is a paramilitary unit composed primarily of Georgian volunteers fighting alongside Ukrainian forces against Russia. The group has been actively involved in the conflict since 2014 and has been a vocal opponent of Russian influence in the region.
