Soplis Nobati responds to National Food Agency’s decision on dairy product recall

Soplis Nobati, the Georgian subsidiary of PepsiCo, has responded to a directive from the National Food Agency of Georgia, which ordered the recall of a batch of ultra-pasteurized milk products.

In a statement, the company emphasized its commitment to product safety and quality, stating:

“At PepsiCo, nothing is more important than delivering safe and high-quality products to our consumers. That is why we cannot leave unanswered today’s order from the National Food Agency, which requires us to withdraw a small batch of UHT milk produced in Azerbaijan by our partners. While this product does not pose a risk to consumers, the agency has determined that it may not fully meet certain local requirements.”

The company assured consumers that it is actively working with regulatory authorities to resolve any technical discrepancies. For precautionary reasons, the affected batch will be removed from shelves within hours, and cooperation with the Azerbaijani supplier has been suspended until all technical details are clarified.

Soplis Nobati stressed that this measure applies only to a limited quantity of ultra-pasteurized milk produced in Azerbaijan and does not affect dairy products manufactured at its Georgian facility. The company reaffirmed that all its products meet strict international food safety and quality standards.

The recall follows an announcement by the National Food Agency on Thursday, revealing that excessive levels of aflatoxin M1—a toxic compound derived from contaminated animal feed—were detected in five batches of ultra-pasteurized milk produced by LLC Vim-Bill-Dan Georgia, also known as Soplis Nobati. The agency’s inspections on March 28 led to the immediate removal of the affected products from the market due to potential health risks.
