In six months, the special investigation service exposed 16 public officials in the crime, Koka Katsitadze,the head of the agency, said on Thursday. 

He stated that  investigation was launched in 246 criminal cases and criminal prosecution was started in 34 cases, in 18 of them individuals were involved in offenses. 

In the reported period, since March,, he said that nine criminal cases of interference in the activities of journalists were initiated, with six  people held accountable.

The law by which the State Inspector Service was abolished and two new agencies were created in its place was adopted by the Parliament of Georgia in an accelerated manner in a few days, on December 30, 2021. 

Then state inspector Londa Toloraia was on maternity leave when the bill was proposed. She  learned about the expected changes from the media.

The ruling party had received international backlash for the developments over the State Inspector’s Srvice.
