Georgia detains 33 foreign nationals in immigration control operation

All 33 individuals have been placed in the Temporary Accommodation Center of the Migration Department.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia reported that, as part of efforts to combat illegal migration, the Migration Department carried out a special immigration control operation.
According to the ministry, the operation was conducted on the basis of previously obtained information. Officers checked specific locations with the aim of identifying foreign nationals residing in Georgia without legal grounds.
As a result of the coordinated operation, 33 foreign citizens were detained. They included nationals of India, Ghana, Nigeria, Pakistan, Iran, Kenya, Tunisia, Yemen, Egypt, Turkey, China, Morocco and Bangladesh.
Authorities determined that the detained individuals were staying in the country in violation of the requirements set by the Georgian Law on the Legal Status of Aliens and Stateless Persons.
All 33 individuals have been placed in the Temporary Accommodation Center of the Migration Department. Procedures are currently underway to deport them from Georgia.
