The National Examination Centre of Georgia on Wednesday confirmed it refused to follow the court’s ruling to schedule an additional exam for a university entrant, who was unable to attend a specific exam due to poor health and later won a lawsuit for a repeated run on July 27.
In its statement, the agency said the examination process had been completed, and all additional examinations had been conducted.

It added those entrants who spent at least 24 hours in a medical facility and those who could not attend the examination due to the death of a family member, could take advantage of the right to an additional examination.

“To conduct exams, it is important to observe all exam rules and laws, which ensures the creation of an equal environment for everyone and gives tens of thousands of entrants the opportunity to continue their studies in higher educational institutions”, the agency said, noting it would appeal the ruling.

The Partnership for Human Rights NGO, protecting the rights of the entrant, has slammed the agency for its refusal to meet the ruling, claiming it was an “alarming precedent” and a criminal offense.

“This is not the non-enforcement of one entrant or one decision, but an attack on the rule of law in the country. Allowing even one precedent of disrespecting the court’s decision threatens all other decisions not to be implemented, “the NGO head Ana Arganashvili said.

The entrant’s mother has gone on hunger strike in protest.
