NATO will send a strong signal of support to Ukraine at the July summit in Vilnius, but now the alliance’s priority is to help Ukraine win the war,” said NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg before the meeting of EU leaders in Brussels.

“At the NATO summit, we will discuss Ukraine’s aspirations for membership, and I am sure that NATO allies will send a strong signal of support to Ukraine,” he said.

Stoltenberg stressed that all NATO allies supported Ukraine’s desire to join the alliance.

He added Kyiv and its allies would decide when the time would come for an official invitation to join, not Russia.

“The most important, urgent task is to continue supporting Ukraine and ensure its victory as a sovereign independent state in Europe,” Stoltenberg said.
