Stoltenberg: we learnt a lesson from Ukraine, we should support Georgia, Moldova, Bosnia and Herzegovina

We have learned a lesson from Ukraine that we should now support Georgia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Moldova. Although Russia’s pressure and influence on them are different, it is much better to support them now than when things go wrong, as we have seen with the invasion of Ukraine, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said after the meeting of the alliance’s foreign ministers in Bucharest on November 29-30. 

“The Foreign Minister of Georgia, along with his Bosnia and Herzegovina and Moldovan counterparts, was invited by NATO allies to our previous session, where we expressed our solidarity with all three partners”.  

 

“Also, all allies expressed strong support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. At the same time, the allies emphasized the importance of implementing democratic reforms in Georgia and we are working together with Georgia to implement the enhanced aid package we agreed on”, Stoltenberg said. 

 

Javier Colomina, the NATO secretary general’s special representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia, said on Wednesday that the alliance had discussed “tailored assistance” for Georgia, Moldova and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
