Georgia’s Interior Minister Sulkhan Tamazashvili has held talks with his Azerbaijani counterpart Vilayat Eyvazov during an official visit to Azerbaijan, focusing on strengthening cooperation between the two countries’ law enforcement agencies, his press office said on Monday.

The meeting covered existing police cooperation and prospects for expanding partnership ties further.

Tamazashvili highlighted what he described as the importance of close cooperation with the Azerbaijani side and said both countries would continue intensive work to deepen their partnership.

The discussions also focused on strengthening cooperation between police units operating in neighbouring regions of the two countries. Both sides expressed readiness to continue joint efforts in that direction.

During the meeting, Tamazashvili thanked the Azerbaijani side for “warm welcome and a productive discussion.”

Eyvazov, in turn, praised the longstanding cooperation between the two ministries and said Azerbaijan welcomed the further development of ties with Georgian counterparts across various areas.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Georgian interior minister invited Eyvazov to pay a return visit to Georgia.
