Adjara has become a prime destination for investors from Gulf countries seeking profitable opportunities, the Chairman of the Government of Adjara, Sulkhan Tamazashvili, said in an interview with the Gulf News publication of the United Arab Emirates.

Tamazashvili claimed all initiatives currently underway in the region were aimed at improving the standard of living for local residents.

“Adjara has seen remarkable development and progress in recent years. Numerous infrastructure projects have been successfully implemented in line with international and European standards. Our initiatives focus on improving the quality of life for locals, supporting small and medium-sized enterprises, and attracting foreign direct investment,” Tamazashvili said.

The Gulf News article highlighted Adjara’s growing importance as an economic, logistical, and trade hub connecting the Caucasus, Central Asia, and Europe. It notes that the regional government is actively pursuing policies favorable to investors, including the establishment of special economic zones to attract foreign capital.

The report also underlined Adjara’s strong tourism potential, mentioning that the $6.6 billion investment by the UAE-based Emaar Group in the historic Gonio Marina project will further strengthen the region’s position as a leading tourism and investment destination.
