Adjara Government Head Sulkhan Tamazashvili, speaking at Friday’s government session, detailed plans for the demolition of unauthorized and unsightly structures in Batumi to improve the city’s appearance and bring development into a legal framework.
“For the purpose of boulevard improvement, intensive demolition of unauthorized and unsightly objects is underway. A new concept for the boulevard is being developed, and I am actively involved in this process. These efforts will transform the boulevard into a modern and well-organized space. Beyond the boulevard, demolition is ongoing throughout the city and region, including unauthorized fences, kiosks, and food outlets. This initiative both establishes a legal framework for the process and enhances the city’s appearance,” Tamazashvili said.
In addition, Tamazashvili highlighted positive trends in tourism for the region. According to 2025 statistics, the number of visitors to Adjara continues to rise.
“Based on fourth-quarter 2025 data, foreign visitors increased by approximately 10% compared to the same period last year. In total, around 5 million visits were recorded in 2025, representing an approximate 4% growth from the previous year. These figures include both domestic and international visitors and demonstrate the region’s growing tourism potential across all four seasons,” Tamazashvili said.
