State Security Service: $7mln in cash, jewelry, valuable art seized in searches linked to Gharibashvili, Liluashvili, Partskhaladze

The State Security Service of Georgia on Saturday announced that a total of $7,002,200 and ₾136,000 ($50,376) in cash, 198 pieces of jewelry and luxury watches, valuable paintings and thousands of pages of documents were seized during searches conducted at the homes of former Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili, former State Security Service Head Grigol Liluashvili, former Prosecutor General Otar Partskhaladze and several individuals associated with them.
The body added the large-scale operation began at 10:00 a.m. on Friday and involved searches of 24 apartments and houses in Tbilisi, Dedoplistskaro, Vani, Chokhatauri and Borjomi. The operation included over 230 officers from the State Security Service and the Georgian Prosecutor’s Office.
In addition to cash and valuables, officers seized 50 mobile phones and 119 electronic devices.
The body said that investigators from both agencies are now examining and processing the seized documents and electronic data, as well as tracing the origins of the confiscated cash.
