Suspect charged in absentia after killing 14-year-old in forced marriage

Telavi District Court in eastern Georgia on Monday charged Asim Aslanov, 28, in absentia after murdering a 14-year-old in forced marriage earlier this month. 

 

Aslanov kidnapped the minor two months ago.The mother of the murdered girl claimed her daughter was against the marriage and tried to escape from the family of the abductor, but was unable to do so. The suspect allegedly killed the minor during another escape attempt. 

 

The suspect faces 16 to 20 years in prison if found guilty.
