A 23-year-old man, accused of coercing a minor into taking and sending explicit photos, may face a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison.

The investigation, led by the Georgian Special Investigation Service, resulted in the man’s pretrial detention, based on charges filed by the Prosecutor’s Office.

According to the inquiry, the victim, a 13-year-old girl, encountered the accused on a social network in September 2023. Allegedly, he demanded that she capture and forward nude photos or videos of herself, threatening physical harm if she refused, and indicating a potential meeting at her school.

“Fearing the consequences, the minor complied, sending explicit photos and videos. Subsequently, the accused continued to exploit the situation, coercing the minor into providing additional compromising material under the threat of disclosing the content to her mother and relatives,” the agency said.

The investigation also uncovered a mobile phone in the possession of the accused, containing intimate photos of the underage victim during a search.
