The mother of a 10-year-old girl who collapsed during a live television performance says she is considering legal action over the handling of the incident, alleging that those responsible failed to provide an adequate response after her daughter fell.
Speaking to TV Pirveli on Friday, Tamar Akobia said the child requires both physical and psychological support following the incident, which occurred during a live appearance by members of the Singing Academy on Georgia's First Channel on 9 June.
Akobia alleged that adults responsible for supervising the children did not react appropriately after her daughter collapsed and have since failed to acknowledge the seriousness of what happened or apologise.
She said her daughter suffered injuries to her fingers and is wearing a splint, adding that the child is also receiving psychological support.
The girl's mother further claimed that organisers did not call for medical assistance immediately after the incident and instead sought to present the situation as being under control.
Akobia said she had not initially planned to file a complaint but was now considering doing so because of what she described as the response of those involved following the incident.
Video footage recorded by a parent and circulated online appears to show the performance continuing after the girl fell, with the child remaining on the floor for about two minutes before assistance was provided.
In a statement issued after the incident, Georgia's First Channel said none of its employees had seen the moment the child collapsed during the live broadcast.
The Singing Academy also said supervisors did not notice the fall at the time, citing stage lighting, loud music and the dynamics of the live performance.
