Georgia’s Ministry of Defence is advancing construction on a new military cadet lyceum in Krtsanisi designed for up to 350 cadets, as well as 44 seven-storey residential buildings on Makhata Mountain, officials said on Wednesday after a site visit by Defence Minister Irakli Chikovani and Chief of Defence Forces Lt. Gen. Giorgi Matiashvili.

In Krtsanisi, new buildings for cadet dormitories, classrooms, administration and a medical facility have been completed or refurbished, alongside a parade ground and a security checkpoint. Interior communication systems and landscaping work are now in the final stage. Once finished, the facility will accommodate up to 350 cadets.

On Makhata Mountain, the second stage of the Army City project is under way. Of the planned 44 residential buildings, construction is actively progressing on 39: 28 buildings are currently having their frame structures erected, while 11 are at the foundation stage.

According to the ministry, around 1,300 service members will receive apartments under a co-financing scheme, paying only 100 USD per square metre. The buildings will be fully adapted for people with disabilities, and plans include upgraded transport links and public infrastructure.
