Tbilisi City Hall has again opted to purchase services for the annual New Year’s celebration without holding a tender, allocating 8,576,967 GEL from the municipal budget, according to the State Procurement Agency website.

City Hall justified the decision by stating that “planning and organizing cultural events requires intellectual services and unique design adjustments,” noting that the event’s tight schedule and need for onsite modifications make tendering unsuitable.

The festivities, set to begin on December 6 with the lighting of the Christmas tree on Rustaveli Avenue, will include a “New Year’s village opening, concerts, electronic live shows, theater performances, and various cultural, sports, educational, and children’s entertainment activities,” City Hall stated. Events will be held across several venues, including Orbeliani Square, the Mshrali Khidi and Dedaena Garden.
