Tbilisi court sentences two to 13 years in prison for human trafficking

The Tbilisi City Court, based on evidence presented by the Prosecutor’s Office, on Thursday found two individuals guilty of human trafficking and sentenced them to 13 years in prison.
The evidence revealed that in April 2023, the accused sent the victim to the Islamic Republic of Iran under false pretenses of employment, subsequently subjecting them to conditions akin to modern slavery.
This included confiscation of the victim’s passport, restriction of movement and communication, and constant control and abuse.The defendants were charged under the article pertaining to human trafficking by a group with prior agreement.
