Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze says that Kyiv’s allegations that Tbilisi is aiding Russia to snuggle in goods to circumvent international sanctions are “shameful” and that Georgia is waiting for evidence from Ukraine.

“It was a shameful statement along with other such statements we have heard recently (coming from Kyiv). We are waiting for the Ukrainian side to present evidence as the allegations were raised by them. It is Ukraine and not us who are obliged to present evidence,” Kaladze said.

He stated that Ukraine is at war and Georgian officials are refraining from making (critical) comments.

“We are doing everything to support Ukraine and the Ukrainian people. There have been a number of important decisions made by us on international platforms, which are also openly stated by our strategic partners. The  shameful statements that have been coming (from Kyiv) in recent days are categorically unacceptable,” Kaladze said.

He noted that the Georgian Dream government is doing “everything possible” not to harm the interests of the country and the Georgian people.

Ukrainian FM Dmytro Kuleba stated today that Tbilisi should present evidence that the country is not aiding Russia, with Tbilisi responding that the statement was “illogical” as accusations have been raised by Ukraine.
