The rehabilitation of the road section on Akaki Tsereteli Avenue in Tbilisi has been completed, restoring two-way traffic. Mayor Kakha Kaladze, along with his deputy, Irakli Bendeliani, inspected the results of the rehabilitation on Thursday.

Kaladze claimed the promise of opening the road has been fulfilled after the cancellation of an agreement with contractors earlier this year, and remaining works would be completed by March.

“We promised the public that the works would be completed by the end of January. Today is the first of February and the works on the road section have been completed, the movement of transport is freely possible in both directions,” said Kaladze.

He added that while the road part was finished, construction of sidewalks, landscaping works, installation of outdoor lighting poles, and other tasks were ongoing. A bus lane will be placed in the middle of the road for public transport, he noted.

All types of underground communications, including water supply, drainage, and gas supply networks, have been updated. Outdoor lighting installation and LED lantern placement are completed on one side, while ongoing on the other side, Kaladze asserted.

Finishing of security islands was completed, and public transport waiting rooms would be installed soon. Traffic lights and road marking works were nearing completion, he added, while paving, landscaping works, and installation of underground waste collection bins are expected to finish in March.
