Tbilisi mayor responds to critics over Peac City slogan

Tbilisi mayor Kakha Kaladze has said that peace was the main achievement of 2022 and there was “nothing unusual” or insulting to “our Ukrainian brothers” that Tbilisi New Year slogan would be the City of Peace.  

 

“Every year we have a New Year’s slogan, which has been changing since 2018. Peace was the main achievement of this year and there is no alternative to it. It is a wrong speculation by several media outlets and politicians that the slogan could be insulting to our Ukrainian brothers”, Kaladze said. 

The public on social media and politicians have slammed Tbilisi City Hall for the slogan.
