Suspect arrested in major MDMA drug bust in Tbilisi

If convicted, the detainee could face a sentence of up to 20 years in prison or life imprisonment.

A man has been arrested in Georgia’s capital on suspicion of drug trafficking after police discovered nearly 1,000 ecstasy pills during a search of his residence.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs confirmed that Z.N., born in 1980, was detained as a result of coordinated operations conducted by the Main Investigation Department and the Main Detectives Department of the Tbilisi Police.
Officers reportedly seized 992 tablets containing MDMA - a synthetic drug commonly known as ecstasy - in what authorities described as a "particularly large quantity."
The suspect faces charges under Article 260, Part 3, Subparagraph a of Georgia’s Criminal Code, which pertains to the illegal purchase and possession of narcotic substances in large amounts. If convicted, the detainee could face a sentence of up to 20 years in prison or life imprisonment.
