Officers from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia have arrested 11 people on drug-related charges in operations carried out across Tbilisi, Adjara and Guria, the ministry has said.

Those detained include both Georgian citizens and foreign nationals. The arrests were made at different times as part of coordinated law enforcement efforts.

Police said searches of suspects’ homes and personal belongings, as well as investigative experiments, led to the seizure of large quantities of narcotics prepared for distribution. Substances recovered included methadone, alpha-PVP, marijuana, ketamine and MDMA.

Authorities also reported seizing materials used for packaging drugs, along with cash believed to be proceeds from illegal sales.

The offences carry penalties of up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
