Man arrested in Tbilisi on suspicion of seriously injuring mother

Officers from the Vake-Saburtalo division of the Tbilisi Police Department under Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia have arrested a 39-year-old man on suspicion of intentionally causing grievous bodily harm to a family member.

The suspect, identified by the initials K.M. and born in 1986, has multiple previous convictions, the ministry said in a statement.

The man fired several indiscriminate shots inside a residential property, injuring his mother, T.L., who was born in 1965. The wounded woman has been taken to a clinic for medical treatment.

Law enforcement officers detained the suspect following operational measures and investigative actions. Police said they seized two unregistered firearms, magazines and ammunition as evidence.

The crimes carry a maximum sentence of up to 13 years in prison, the ministry said.
