Police in Tbilisi have detained two men in connection with a stabbing that left one person seriously injured, Georgia’s Interior Ministry said on Friday.
The MIA said the suspects - both with prior convictions - were arrested shortly after the incident in the Didube-Chugureti district. The 32-year-old, identified as S.Ch., has been accused of inflicting severe bodily harm, while the second suspect, 29-year-old V.Ch., has been charged with failing to report the crime.
The incident took place during an argument in a city park, which escalated into a physical confrontation. Police said S.Ch. allegedly attacked a 47-year-old man, identified as P.K., with a knife, stabbing him in the chest and side before fleeing the scene.
The injured man was taken to hospital, where he received medical treatment. Police later recovered the weapon believed to have been used in the attack.
The investigation is ongoing under articles 117 and 376 of Georgia’s criminal code, which carry penalties of up to seven years in prison.
