Azerbaijani citizen arrested in Georgian capital on drug charges

Police in the Georgian capital city of Tbilisi have arrested a citizen of Azerbaijan on charges related to drug offences, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.
Officers from the Patrol Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia detained the suspect, identified as Sh.H., born in 1999, on charges of illegal purchase and possession of a particularly large quantity of narcotics and assisting in their distribution.
The Ministry said patrol inspectors stopped the suspect while he was travelling in Tbilisi for verification purposes. During a personal search, officers seized 28 packages of various narcotic substances prepared for sale, including methamphetamine and cocaine.
Law enforcement officers also conducted a search of the suspect’s temporary residence, where they seized a particularly large quantity of different narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances.
The crime is punishable by up to 12 years or life imprisonment, the Ministry said.
