Man arrested in Tbilisi for large-scale drug offenses

The offenses are punishable by up to 20 years in prison

Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs on Thursday said it had arrested a man in Tbilisi on charges related to large-scale drug crimes, including the illegal possession, cultivation, and distribution of narcotic substances.
The body said its officers from the Didube-Chugureti Main Division of the Tbilisi Police Department detained a 34-year-old man, identified as R.D., who has a prior criminal record.
Law enforcement officers discovered a greenhouse inside the suspect’s apartment, where nine cannabis plants were being cultivated. During the search, police also seized 30 glass jars containing dried marijuana and psilocybin mushrooms, along with packaging materials and an electronic scale believed to have been used for drug distribution, the MIA press office said.
The Interior Ministry said the suspect has been accused of illegal possession and storage of narcotics in large and especially large quantities, illegal cultivation of cannabis, and facilitation of marijuana trafficking.
The offenses are punishable by up to 20 years in prison.
