Police arrest five minors in Tbilisi for armed robbery against foreign taxi driver

The Main Division for Juvenile Affairs under Tbilisi Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has detained five minors accused of assaulting and robbing a foreign taxi driver in the capital, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported on Saturday.

The investigation found that the suspects attacked the victim with a cold weapon, physically assaulted the taxi driver and threatened to kill the driver before stealing cash from the vehicle and fleeing the scene.

The injured foreign citizen was taken to a medical facility for treatment following the attack.

The crime is punishable by up to nine years in prison.
