Man arrested in Tbilisi for murder at Chavchavadze Avenue

Tbilisi police have arrested a 49-year-old man, identified as G.U., on charges of premeditated murder and illegal possession, storage, and carrying of a firearm, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reports.

According to the investigation, the suspect shot and injured two people on Chavchavadze Avenue in Tbilisi before fleeing the scene. As a result of the attack, a 60-year-old man, L.J., died on the spot, while another victim, 59-year-old G.Ch., was hospitalized.

Law enforcement officers apprehended the suspect in Tbilisi following operational and investigative actions.

The investigation is ongoing under Articles 108 and 236 of the Georgian Criminal Code, which carry a penalty of up to 15 years in prison.
