The Defense Forces are actively engaged in rescue operations across six directions to address the aftermath of the severe snowstorms. According to Vice Prime Minister and Defense Minister Irakli Chikovani, these directions represent points of deployment from which coverage of populated areas is being coordinated.

Chikovani noted that the Mountain Training School in Sachkhere, along with the Western Command and dozens of specialized vehicles, have been involved in addressing the challenges posed by heavy snowfall.

He explained that the Defense Forces are providing support and assistance to various municipal services and the Roads Department to help clear pathways to specific populated areas.

“After clearing the roads, soldiers first enter households in need and strive to deliver medications and supplies promptly,” Chikovani stated.

He emphasized that there is constant operational communication between Defense Force representatives and the command, ensuring complete information flow regarding areas that require immediate attention. The Vice Prime Minister highlighted the fact that after assisting one populated area, efforts are rapidly redirected to aid other areas. He underlined that over the past two days, the Defense Forces have successfully implemented these operations, continuing their work actively despite the heavy snowfall.
