Under the slogan “Women Against the Regime!”, protest marches will be held today, March 8, in Tbilisi, Kutaisi, and Batumi.

In Tbilisi, demonstrators will gather at Republic Square at 19:30; in Kutaisi, at Third School at 19:00; and in Batumi, at 48 Memed Abashidze Street (near the office of Batumelebi newspaper) at 18:00.

“For the first time on March 8, 2025, we in Georgia stand alongside female political prisoners—among them, Mzia Amaghlobeli, a victim of the authoritarian regime and a symbol of the fight for freedom today.

Along with her, many women refuse to accept the authoritarianism and police regime that has taken root in Georgia, imprisoning innocent people, disregarding the constitution, and violating fundamental human rights. This regime has mistreated the hunger-striking Mzia Amaglobeli, tortured peaceful demonstrators, and continues to push Georgia deeper into crisis through its daily actions.

On March 8, International Women’s Day, which the women’s movement dedicates each year to pressing national issues, we will gather at Republic Square and march toward Rustaveli Avenue.

This protest carries the voice of women! Join us, and together, let’s make the voices of Georgian women heard against the regime!” the statement reads.
