The General Staff of Armenia demands the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, as well as the government.

This was announced at the main headquarters of the Armed Forces of the republic.

The statement was signed by the entire leadership of the General Staff, including Chief Onik Gasparyan. Also, the commanders of large military formations and the heads of all directorates put their signatures.

Pashinyan himself called the General Staff's statement an attempted coup and called on supporters to take to the streets.

"I invite all of our supporters to Republic Square right now. I will address the public live in the near future," – he said.

Pashinyan also said that he had fired Chief of the General Staff Onik Gasparyan, who signed the statement of the military.

The Armenian Ministry of Defense has not yet commented on the statement of the General Staff, the department told RIA Novosti.
