I would like to respond to the concerns expressed by the population about Namakhvani HPP in our society, the questions are natural, there are and all questions should be answered appropriately, reasoned, professional and qualified, – said the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Gharibashvili at the government session.
The Prime Minister instructed the Ministers of Economy and Environment and Agriculture to be in direct communication with the population, as well as to take part in the relevant committee hearings in Parliament.
"I think it is necessary for the ministers to answer these questions of the population directly, therefore, I would like to ask Ms. Natia Turnava and Mr. Levan Davitashvili to arrive in person tomorrow and start communicating directly with the population. Talk to them in person, explaining what they are worried about. I would also like to ask our ministers to take part in the relevant committee hearings in Parliament. "It is important that these hearings be held with the participation of stakeholders and that all possible questions are answered," Irakli Gharibashvili said.
As the head of the government noted, energy independence is one of the main priorities for the country, and the country must adequately respond to this challenge.
"As you know, imported electricity is growing from year to year. The forecasts in the field of energy are that every year, at least 100 megawatts of HPP should be built in the country, which is not done at this stage. But of course, here we have to find the golden mean and "In order to find this golden mean, it is necessary to communicate directly with the public so that not a single question remains unanswered in the society," Irakli Gharibashvili said.
