Beauty Queen Pushpika de Silva has won the Miss Sri Lanka pageant. The ceremony was broadcast on national television on Sunday.

A few minutes after handing the crown to the winner, the 2019 winner of the same competition took the stage and said that De Silva could not become the winner because she was away from her husband, after this announcement her crown was torn off again and the second place contestant got crowned.

As it turned out, the winner, Pushpika de Silva, suffered a head injury while cutting the crown from his head and needed the help of doctors.

Later, the contest organizers apologized for the incident and explained that the crown of Miss Sri Lanka winner had been returned to de Silva again as it turned out she was not living with her husband but they were not officially separated.
